Little Boy's Birthday

Last Sunday was my son's birthday.  Ever the optimist, I ventured on cooking for 30 odd people in one day. Starting from early in the morning and finishing just after 10 (with pauses here and there to attend to kids' needs, a trip to school open day - where I was rostered to supervise a bouncy castle under the blazing sun at midday, and then another trip to the supermarket), I managed to cook Nasi Uduk (coconut rice. Well actually hubby cooked this. But still, I'm the head chef, rite...), Empal goreng (beef cooked two ways - in spiced coconut milk and then deep fried), Telur balado (chili boiled eggs), and Fried Beehoon.

Not the best picture, I know. As usual I FORGOT! to take pictures of the food... :((

I also managed to make a birthday cake too while the other food were cooking on the cook top. It's supposed to be jungle theme, but I ran out of fondant and could only make three animals (and the bird nest with pink eggs courtesy of my dear daughter who insisted the tiger and snake will not eat the bird eggs).

The cake is two layers of chocolate mud cake with buttercream spread.  Yumm!!!
